Your general game plan should be to overwhelm them with pressure in game 1 when they don’t have sweepers in their deck and then slow down and try to play a more reactive 1-for-1 game post-board. Be sure not to go too overboard on cards like Glare or Erase because they are only going to have a few targets for each.

This matchup generally comes down to a race and you’re generally well positioned thanks to your relatively pain-free mana base, cheaper removal, and pro-white haymaker in Stormbreath Dragon. Post-board I like to cut Hordeling Outburst because of how good they are at gumming up the ground and in anticipation of Drown in Sorrow.

Whip Decks

Whip decks are probably your worst matchup of the popular decks because they tend to have a ton of black removal, usually 4 Cut and some number of Downfall. Additionally, their late game trumps yours meaning that the onus is on you to get them dead before Hornet Queens show up to ruin your day.

Fortunately, post-board you pick up some tools for fighting the bug menace in the form of Hushwing Gryff. Be sure to pay attention to what colors they are also. If they have Sidisi for example, Lightning Strike gets better while if they have Siege Rhino, Glare of Heresy is a good board-in.

This matchup is fantastic! Between their deck being pretty slow, your load of great early removal and 8 post-board spells that don’t care about toughness, and Stormbreath Dragon, they really have a tough time. Be careful not to board in Erase as having situationally dead cards like that are one of the main ways that things can go south for you in this matchup.

This feels a lot like a mirror except you have a difficult-to-answer threat in Stormbreath while they have Cruise to help them rebuild after both players trade off their hands. In post-board games, I would expect some number of Anger of the Gods or other sweepers, so play accordingly! Again I think Erase is too narrow as compared to the more multi-purpose Glare of Heresy.
