You know what I think it is? New cards. Probably obviously (probviously?). If the format is imbalanced, the next set will patch it. If the format gets stale, the next set will patch it. You can leave the game and come back years later and it is FRESH. Or you could never leave the game and before you have time to get bored—FRESH AGAIN.

This new set is incredibly exciting. It isn’t a ton of cards. Not every card will contend at the tournament level. But there are some cards in there that have INSANE implications, and my mind is already racing. Let’s not wait. Let’s get started!

Seriously. I love combo Elves. And this version has so many cool things going on.

The first is Beck, obviously. Beck is like [card]Glimpse of Nature[/card] for an extra blue mana. That’s still potentially really insane working alongside the mana engine of [card]Nettle Sentinel[/card] and [card]Heritage Druid[/card].

Yes, these lands also untap your mana army with [card]Intruder Alarm[/card]. And yes, [card]Intruder Alarm[/card] is bonkers with Beck.

Wait… [card]Intruder Alarm[/card] is also bonkers with CALL! OMG. Using Intruder Alarm to get up to 4UW or 4UUWG is believable and a potential instakill.

I can’t wait to churn through my deck, tapping and untapping my mana army, supersizing my mana army, and attacking for 10 billion.

There are so many weird ways to go off turn 3 with this deck. Imagine this start:
