Puzzle: Can Versus Can’t

Welcome back to Possibility Storm for another week of Magic puzzles! How many cards that modify the game rules are too many for one board state? What are rules for anyway, if not to be broken? You’ll need to understand what you can and can’t do in this week’s wacky puzzle from Possibility Storm.

1. Kefnet triggers during your draw step. However, due to your opponent's Teferi, you can't cast anything until your main phase, so ignore it.
2. -2 Jaya targeting Lavinia to destroy her.
3. Cast Act of Treason on Raff Capashen - otherwise step 4 is undone with an easy recast.
4. Cast Release to the Wind on your opponent's Teferi - otherwise your upcoming Etali triggers won't yield any castable spells.
5. Go to attacks. Attack with Etali, Dreadhorde Arcanist, and Kefnet, paying 6 to Forbidding Spirit's ability. (Even if you took a different line that destroys the Spirit before combat, you'd still have to pay for its ability.)
6. Resolve Dreadhorde Arcanist's ability and cast Thud for free, sacrificing Raff to destroy Forbidding Spirit.
7. Resolve Etali's ability to cast Benalish Marshal. (You can cast Electrodominance too if you like, but X will have to be 0 due to the rules about free-casting X spells, and Jaya's damage increasing ability only applies when damage is actually dealt, so 0 doesn't count.)
8. Your opponent has no blockers left and, due to the applicable buffs from Benalish Marshal and Jaya, takes 8 from Etali, 5 from Kefnet, and 3 from Dreadhorde Arcanist for a lethal 16!
Thanks as always for playing along this week and this season! We hope you had fun!
