So we’ve given away 5 pieces of the Power 9 so far—we’ve still got 4 to go! Remember, all eligible preregistrants are entered, so the sooner you preregister, the more chances you have to win!

Let’s talk now about preparing for Grand Prix Las Vegas. Of course, there’s the most obvious way to prepare—you can practice Modern Masters 2015! How can you do that? Well…

Preorder some Modern Masters 2015

This one is pretty obvious. Preorder some product, and when it releases on the 22nd, crack open some Sealed pools! One of the time-honored methods is to open a Sealed pool, build, battle a friend who also opened a Sealed pool, and then swap Sealed pools, rebuild, and battle again! This way you can discuss the ways that you built the pools differently and talk about strategies. Of course, if you can get 8 players to go in on a preorder, that’s a great way to practice drafting as well!

Even though the set’s not out yet, our pros have started analyzing the set in earnest. LSV is working on a set review, and we’ve got quite a few articles about it already! In case you missed them, here are some of the awesome pieces we’ve had so far:

Trying to figure out how to prepare for #GPVegas? We’ve got you covered. Our pro players are all over this set, and we’ll have tons of content to help you prepare for Grand Prix Las Vegas. Here’s some of our #MTGMM2015 content so far:

• A breakdown of the allied color pairs in #MTGMM2015 by Grand Prix Las Vegas 2013 Champion Neal Oliver.

• Sealed pool breakdowns with decks built by pros like Pro Tour Born of the Gods finalist Jacob Wilson, 2011 Player of the Year Owen Turtenwald, and Pro Tour Hall of Fame member Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa.

• What’s the Pick? with Pro Tour Hall of Fame member William “Huey” Jensen.

• An early look at Modern Masters 2015 draft archetypes with 6-time GP Top 8 competitor Pascal Maynard.

Imagine up some Modern Masters 2015 Sealed Pools

Of course, this is no replacement for the real thing, but until the set actually comes out, it’s an okay substitute. Use a random number generator to generate booster packs of the set (if you like Microsoft Excel as much as I do, this is totally doable) and then build your pretend pool on paper! To make it even more real, you can grab copies of the cards you “open” from your collection—either in real life or on Magic Online—and then battle friends that have done the same.

Of course, there are many more ways you can prepare for #GPVegas – make travel arrangements, book a hotel, (like the Westgate across the street from the venue, for instance) make dinner reservations, preregister for side events, get together a list of cards to buy from or sell to our many vendors, or gather up cards for our 33 artists to sign!

All right—that’s it for this week! Remember to follow us on Twitter (@ChannelFireball) and on Facebook to get more news about #GPVegas, and join our Facebook event to keep up with news, tips, and giveaways. Remember to preregister for the main event—as with all Grand Prix going forward, there’s no Saturday registration, so if you want to play, you’ll need to sign up in advance!
