Scorpion isn’t going to block anyway- he’s not going to attack with the scholar, and with puma out, if the opponent plays a land and a card, Thief entering the battlefield would make him reveal his whole hand, offering the opportunity to strip the possibly relevant spell. It was just playing correctly when you are going to die anyway.

the only thing worse than the outcome of that game, is waiting 10seconds for every step because your opponent is lagging.
