a lot of my sealed’s become a game of whoever draws adventuring gear first wins. even in this game he didn’t draw it until very late and it still won him the game.

On the disfigure, I would have let him attack with the Geopede and then saved the Disfigure for his (likely) follow-up. That lets you bash unimpeded the following turn with Crypt Ripper and Co., putting you substantially ahead in the race.

Also, on the disfigure play on T3, if you’re definitely going to hit the geopede there is no major benefit to waiting till his turn, and a severe possible downside: a fetch land. If he plays a fetch land that next turn, you’re taking at least three, maybe five damage that you didn’t need to. I know it’s a rare, but with four different fetches in one of his colors there’s a reasonable chance he could have one.
