    I think that wasn’t the best way to play this out,the problem is that the racing becomes a nightmare with that glory out,and your path to victory clearly involves getting hits in with the spike ,which is nearlyt impossible when they know it’s comming.The play that turn was Oring the Glory,eat the bolt,next tu,cycle EOT,get in with the beetle.Obviously,drawing so much land was suboptimal too.

    First of all:
    Thanks LSV for the links redirecting to the next video in line. It used to be so hard to find the right videos on YouTube (I guess YouTube has troubles ordening videos properly).

    Second:
    I always hate loosing due to mana issues, sorry to see you go through the same thing.

    Third:
    It must come in handy to have all these superhero powers:
    “I hope to see a Bant Sureblade or some…” and tadaaa: Bant Sureblade!
    “Even a borderpost would’ve been fine…” and tadaaa: Borderpost!

    Better luck in future drafts mate!

    The borderpost situation is where I say “gee thanks for showing up”. Seems to happen quite a lot.

    I was a little worried about the deck through pack 1 but at least it turned out pretty solid.

    The borderpost thing was definitely not cool. Bad Beats.

    I’m sorry. I laughed at the “Borderpost… that’s pretty funny.” I don’t think there’s anyone who’s played competitive Magic that hasn’t been in that situation at some point, sadly.

    Not to mention the dude had like 100 removal spells and drew glory of warfare like a champion

    Great job posting these, love watching the master at work. :)
    I agree with stefan however. In this game, the Oring on the glory is the play, and sneak in a hit or two with the spike until he cannot enter a race situation with the dragon and be forced to leave him back to trade. I believe that would have bought some time.

    Sadly i find that the shuffler online produces more land gluts and mana screw than i encounter in physical magic. I play far more online than rl magic so my question is, do you guys who play physical magic encounter mana issues frequently or on par with the occurance online?

  9. SteakAndAlePie says: June 21, 2009 @ 9:13 am

    @dan

    Most paper magic players spread lands automatically when shuffling. Like putting all lands on top of the library than pileshuffle into 7 piles. Its still pretty random but it does a basic spread the online shuffles does not.

    @lsv
    I like the way you reacted to the borderpost. And your mouse. I do agree with everything you did except passing the Glory of Warfare. Bant Sureblade might be better, but the Warfare has more entertainment value and hypotetical red/white deck would have been extreme interesting. It wouldn’t have worked out though.

    As always, I enjoy these drafts (and so do my friends!) Good to see how a deck I wouldn’t normally draft turns out.
