EDIT 2/25 12:35am : Contest entries are no longer being accepted. Sorry boys and girls, I’ve already passed the 250 mark for entries. As a result I’ll be expanding the number of entries we look at to at least 150 and possibly all the way to 200. There was a huge response to this and I had already filled up the initial non-DQ’d 100 entries within 24 hours. Thanks to everyone who sent me their submissions! Expect results next week.

Due to popular demand I’ve decided to run another Sealed contest since Dark Ascension has finally hit Magic Online and the number of Grand Prix events that are Limited over the next 6 weeks. All of the rules and requirements are listed below and the Sealed Pools are located just below them.

Contest!

Pick one of the Sealed Pools below and make a build with a 500 word or less write-up about why you feel it is the best build of the given pool. A panel of judges will then read through the entries and the best ones will be printed in the follow-up article and winners will be given some store credit to spend. Pretty simple!

I’ve refined my rules for submitting as the previous contest was a bit of a free for all in terms of what was sent in. Failure to follow these rules will result in deletion of your entry.

The Rules

I want to see ONE decklist for your build. You can talk about alternatives, but the bulk of your entry should be on the deck you actually want to submit. Same goes for potential sideboard cards, you can list them, but don’t spend a lot of words going over them. Word count will be a soft cap of 500. If you go over slightly it isn’t a big deal, but I don’t want to see 700-800 words. This is for easier readability and time constraints. The entries will be judged both on quality of build and the quality of explanation behind the choices. You don’t need to tell people Murder of Crows or Feed the Pack are good cards, but explaining why you went with a certain color combination or your 22nd or 23rd cards is nice to know.

#1: Contest is OVER!

#2: Submit all entries via email in plain text (I will not open attachments) with a subject line of ‘Sealed Contest’ to: josh.silvestri@gmail.com

#3: You may only enter with ONE of the Sealed Pools. No double-queuing! Make it clear which pool you are submitting an entry for.

#4: Entries will be judged by myself and a panel of judges on the quality of build and explanation given.

#5: The winners of each pool will be published (With whatever name you list, if none is given, then e-mail or nickname) receive 30 store credit, other runner-ups that are published will receive 10. As it stands this means a total of 100 store credit is up for grabs for three people in each pool. You must have an account with ChannelFireball to receive prize.

#6: Winners will be contacted via e-mail and announced between February 29th and March 7th. Prizes will be given out the day after the winners are announced.
