Round 3:
Brent Peterson vs. Tristan Blowe
Game 1:
Brent won the die roll and kept his hand while Tristan mulliganed to six cards. Brent started off with a Verdant Catacombs while Blowe played a Stirring Wildwood. Another fetch land comes down for Brent and passed the turn. Tristan played a second land and dropped a Lotus Cobra onto the field. Brent fetched a Forest and Mountain and dropped his own Lotus Cobra down. He got good value from his Cobra immediately after with a Scalding Tarn leading to a Cunning Sparkmage hitting play and killing Tristan's Cobra.
Tristan then played another Lotus Cobra and played a Misty Rainforest. Fetching for blue, he produced two green and laid a Hierarch and Birds on the table. Tristan soon got the mana for Baneslayer Angel. Brent's only response was to shoot Birds of Paradise on his turn. Meanwhile Tristan continued his onslaught with a Jace, the Mind Sculptor and Fatesealed Brent, moving the card to the bottom of his library.
Peterson was in rough shape as he Bloodbraid'd into a Birds of Paradise, while still getting beatdown by Baneslayer Angel. He swung with Nest Invader and Bloodbraid to take down Jace. Tristian's response? Bash with Baneslayer again making the life totals 29 to 5. Brent played an Eldrazi Monument and swung in for 7 with Bloodbraid Elf and Nest Invader, leaving back the Birds to block. Blowe didn't have any more action and is forced to leave his Baneslayer back on the defense. Meanwhile Peterson moved in for the kill, sacrificing Nest Invader to Monument and dropped another Bloodbraid which cascaded into another Nest Invader.
Tristan activated a manland to block the flying Bloodbraid Elf and took 5. It was to little avail though as he had no answers while Brent continued to play more Bloodbraid and spawn creatures. Flashing an Overrun at his opponent, Tristan scooped.
Brent 1-0
Game 2:
Tristan started his game off with a land. Brent played a Forest casting Birds of Paradise. Tristan laid a Misty Rainforest and unceremoniously passed the turn. Brent taps Birds of Paradise and a Forest to play Lotus Cobra. Off the Cobra and a Fetchland he powers out Cunning Sparkmage
Tristan played his third land in order to play Rhox War Monk. A second Birds of Paradise came down on Brent's board. Tristan swung with War Monk with no other plays. Brent played a Bloodbraid Elf and cascaded into a Lotus Cobra. With double Lotus Cobra and a uncracked fetchland, Brent is easily able to produce five mana to lay down Eldrazi Monument. When Tristan was lacking in answers on his turn, Peterson moved to end the game. First he shot Tristan for 1, then bashed in with his flying team for 10 and finally a Siege-Gang Commander sealed the game for Brent.
Brent wins the match 2-0!
